PostHeaderIcon Sales

I’m so happy to have had a few sales of my hand spun yarn in our Etsy shop. Until now, I hesitated to list it because . . . I wanted to keep it all for me!  Had to start letting some go, and for it to move so quickly makes me feel really good. I hope those that purchased the yarn are thrilled with it, too.  I’d love to see what is created with it.
I have more to list and need to get photos. I also have some gorgeous batts that I made up a couple of months ago to get in the shop. More roving . . .

OK!

PostHeaderIcon TdF – July 10

I’m starting a new length of roving – 10 ounces – and it’s a myriad of colors and actually kind of ugly. I’m spinning it super thin and will then ply it – maybe Navajo, depends on the single, for use with a shawl pattern that I’ve found.

Ugly super-fine merino roving!

The over-dye went extremely well yesterday. The fire red dye worked wonders. The turquoise gave me some very pretty roving that I’ll probably not part with. See, I have this thing for green … favorite color!

Weather is strange today. There’s a huge storm moving towards us out of Pennsylvania and it looks to be quite severe. Lights out with this one? I betcha! Planned an easy dinner because of impending storms. Burgers for hubby, and I’m going to make a Greek salad mix which I’ll make a wrap out of for me – he’ll just have the salad on the side.

Darkening significantly outside right now. Shit – we’re gonna get hit!  Time to shut down the electronics and wait it out.

PostHeaderIcon Ummm …

Yes, I’m still trying (not hard) to find the damn camera!

Spinning a lot. Spun up some roving that I dyed that the darling huzbeast said looked like . . . VOMIT! Damn man!  It spun up quite nicely, thank you very much. It looks like a blend of Victorian colors – shades of pinks, dark rose, greens, pale yellows.  I decided to ply it with black and spun up about 150 yards of hat black merino – but then spied leftover neon green roving and spun that into a single. Used the green to ply with instead and I like the result. Photos (ahem!) soon! LOL

PostHeaderIcon Dreary day

Another overcast, dreary day in the lower Catskills. I kind of enjoy these days because I can stay inside and spin, dye, or whatever!

R.H. Lindsay order arrived and I’m very happy with all of it! I ordered both of their black tops and will definitely buy all of my black roving from them. I don’t care to try dyeing my own stuff all black because it generally comes out uneven. I haven’t really handled the sliver yet, but it looks great through the plastic!

DD broke up with her boyfriend yesterday and she’s quite melancholy today. I know how much she cares for him but he was/seemed to become quite controlling over her life. I won’t go into detail but his intentions (though good) took their toll on her.  I genuinely like him and hope that they can work out their difficulties and maybe find their way back to each other at some point in time.

I’m going to dye some ultra fine merino today, and maybe some of the RHL sliver. I experimented using black dye with other colors a few weeks ago, a first for me, and the results were quite lovely!  I want to get some pink going today with bright yellow and a bit of orange. Great summer colors.  I’d also like to get the drum carder going with black roving and glitz.

I had spun up the neon green for DD’s friend’s hat. Spun up the black for it yesterday. Now I HAVE to find the book that I need to get the really cool edging cast on for it. Might be in the cedar chest or simply lost in my massive collection of fiber related books and magazines. I’m almost afraid to try and find it! lol

Downloaded “The Real Housewives of New Jersey”, episode 5 and will watch that today. Love those ladies – well, all except Danielle. I missed “Top Chef Masters” last night so I’m waiting for that to show up online before hitting the Ravelry message board that I’m part of.

More later . . .

PostHeaderIcon Here we go . . .

. . . again!  Re-establishing our blog, most likely as the main page for the domain.

Decided the web site based store would be a waste of time so I’m moving all listings back to Etsy. I think I’ll stay there — indefinitely.

We’re having Tuscan sausage soup for dinner tonight. Couldn’t get chard for it so I’ll be using spinach instead. Probably have some homemade garlic cheese bread on the side. Yummy!

Our big boy, Caesar (boxer) can tearing into the house earlier like he was terrified. Turns out – he was! His poop was chasing him. LOL Of course he’d run right to his mama to fix it for him. Thanks a bunch, Sleezor – just what I was looking forward to doing today – extracting yuck from your behind. <gag>

Dyed roving a few times this week. Got some nice silver/black/blue and silver/black/magenta blue faced Leicester, some neon green Falkland. I currently have more Falkland in the dyepot but I’m not sure about these colors. I picked gold as one and honestly don’t care for it at all. I should have chosen something brighter – goldenrod, or sun yellow – - oh well!

Fiber club stuff is all dyed, dried and about ready to be mailed.

Spinning up the April Spunky fiber. I’m not sure what I want to do with the single yet so I’ll probably skein it and put it aside until a decision is made.  Would make nice socks, I think.
